What Can I Do?

The Tanzania Caring Group has produced a catalogue with some practical gift suggestions to enable us to provide our neighbours in Tanzania with some much needed items. 100% of your gift is used towards the purchase. The cost includes transportation and training if needed. For items over $100 you may buy "shares" (in $25 increments) to contribute towards their purchase. For more details about the areas of need and how you can help, please view our brochure and catalogue below.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Target Tanzania Catalogue

What can I do?
Often when we are faced with enormous challenges, it is hard to know where to start helping. A number of high profile charities have very successfully used the idea of a practical and useful purchase for people in need as a wonderful way to give a meaningful gift to our friends and family members. So we have taken a leaf from their book and have produce this catalogue with some very practical gift suggestions should you be considering this kind of option with your family and friends.

If I buy a gift on behalf of a friend or relative, how will that person be notified?
You can choose a St Bride’s greeting card that you can send to let your friends and family members know that a gift has been given in their name.

Can I give a gift in memory of a friend or loved one?

Yes. Gifts in memoriam can be made. You can request that your donation be used to purchase items from the Gift Catalogue - just ask us for a gift or memorial card.

How are prices determined for items in the Gift Catalogue?

The pricing for all items has been done within the past 12 month period. Included in the cost are transportation and any technical expertise needed. The resources are as far as possible purchased locally to ensure the purchases are well-suited to the local environment and to reduce the risk of theft or excessive shipping costs and times. Buying locally also helps support the local economy and keeps transportation costs to a minimum. We want to help these communities bring about sustainable change.

Where does my money go when I purchase a gift?
100% of your gift is used towards the purchase. The cost of purchase includes transportation and any expertise that must be paid for to install machinery or train operators.

Are some gift items better than others?
No. All of the gift items have been carefully selected to meet critical needs in the four ministry areas. Every gift is valuable and we leave it up to you to choose which gift you wish to give.

I’d like to help with one of the larger items but I can’t afford to buy the whole thing. What can I do?
We sell ‘shares’ in items priced over $100- you may wish to buy one or more shares to contribute towards these more expensive items. Share prices are indicated in the catalogue. In 2010 there will be an exhibit in the church that tracks our progress towards paying for the ‘big ticket’ items.
